Getting Ready for Summer in San Diego

No matter what the calendar says, summertime hits San Diego pretty early. You may have to accept some May grey or June gloom, but aside from that the weather gets really nice really early in the year.

Obviously in a place like this, you have a lot of options as the weather warms up. The late spring is a great time to go hiking around San Diego county… not so hot that you feel like you’re going to melt if you’re inland, and all the plants are blooming. Why Do People Choose to Live in San Diego?

San Diego is one of the largest cities in the nation. What is it about San Diego that attracts people so?

It certainly isn’t the housing prices. Housing costs are significantly higher in San Diego than in many metropolitan areas. It’s not the most expensive place to live but not for the broke of wallet.

It’s not the traffic, a popular complaint among San Diegans. Once again, traffic in San Diego isn’t as bad as in many other cities but sometimes it’s pretty horrendous. (more…)

New Panda Buffet

Just tried out a new buffet in town and we’re definitely going back.

It’s called New Panda Buffet. If you’ve been to East Buffet, which I will also review sometime, you get the idea. Food selection isn’t quite as big, perhaps, but they do have a lovely Mongolian barbeque so that you can have them prepare things especially for you. There’s also a good sushi bar. (more…)

Quite possibly THE place for seafood in San Diego. The seafood is fresh, in season and affordable.

Dining here is relaxed. We’re talking lawn chair relaxed. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you don’t know what kind of fish to get, just ask for help. Your meal will be prepared as you like it. (more…)

Japanese Friendship Garden

The Japanese Friendship Garden is a beautiful Zen garden in Balboa Park. It features a lovely koi pond, bonsai and more.

There is an admission fee, but the garden is well worth it. You can also become a member if this is a place you’d like to visit regularly.

The koi are quite friendly and used to people. On some days guests are allowed to feed the koi, which is sure to delight children as well as adults. (more…)
